About Us:
The Oak Ridge Youth Symphony Orchestra (ORYSO) is an organization devoted to the promotion of symphonic music in the Oak Ridge and East Tennessee community. Our goal is to enrich a player’s musical capabilities through enjoyable mediums - including 2 full orchestras, chamber music ensembles, a Summer Conservatory, the concerto competition, and many other opportunities. Youth musicians will be able to interact with peers of similar interest and to enhance their understanding of the musical world through participation in quality ensembles under the leadership of talented professional musicians. The ORYSO is currently under the direction of Volunteer Executive Director Seaira Stephenson, Music Directors Slade Trammell (Advanced Orchestra) and Preston Davis (Junior Orchestra), and Student Director Alexis Burnham. ORYSO operates under the wing of the Oak Ridge Civic Music Association (ORCMA).
The ORYSO orchestras rehearse weekly on Sunday afternoons at the Grove Theater.
